In using the latest design concepts and production facilities we pioneered the development of the recording of interviews in digital form. AV Niche have been granted a patent GB2387956 for "Secure Digital Recording". Secure Digital Recording conforms to CJS2004 "Visual Recording of Evidence Within the Criminal Justice System" equipment specification. An investment of close to £1/3 million means that evidential recording in digital form onto a removable digital storage media such as CD, DVD or hard disc is secure. All our digital interview recording systems are supported by a full range of system accessories such as foot pedal operated digital transcription, high speed digital copiers and digital editing systems all of which are the system accessories that became standard and commonly used in the Criminal Justice Sector during the national implementation of the Police And Criminal Evidence Act, P.A.C.E.

AV Niche in 2004 secured the exclusive design and manufacturing rights to all of the Rolec brand of PACE audio cassette interview recorders.

At AV Niche, we are able to provide complete system solutions for the audio and audio / visual recording of interviews with suspected persons, child witnesses, vulnerable victims and intimidated witnesses. Our latest development includes the design of the smallest portable DVD interview recorder system. The portable DVD systems can produce single, dual, triple and quadruple real time recordings of an interview in progress. Digital audio and audio / visual recording systems for the real time recording of custody suite charge desks, custody suite cell passageways and corridors, identification parades, CCTV security, “in vehicle” and “on site” evidential recording are also available.

Whilst offering the latest developments in digital recording technology we are also able to provide a fully integrated digital recording network solution to the Criminal Justice Sector. An implemented network can be located within any single building, a local area, a region or even nationally. The conceptual design utilises a modular standard building block construction which enables future upgrade capacity thus allowing a stage by stage development of the network. A fully integrated digital recording network is able to support and provide audio and audio / visual recording back up for interview rooms, charge desks, custody suites, identification parades, with the additional provision of “on line” monitored officer training, video on demand, public information, and a complete administration audit of the Criminal Justice process. A secure and controlled access to the network can be offered to other agencies like the Crown Prosecution and Court Services thus providing a fully integrated digital recording network supporting the entire Criminal Justice Sector in both the present and future.
